Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
This oil has a calming and soothing effect to both the mind and body. This is especially noticeable when used in a massage. Bergamot also alleviates feelings of stress and anxiousness. Many know it as the "self-assurance" and "self-love" oil.
How to use it:
Aromatic: Diffuse at night; add a calming oil; and/or use a spritz bottle to spray bedclothes/bedding before bed time (Make sure to dilute accordingly) Topical: Dilute 1-2 drops with a carrier oil; then massage into bottoms of feet, legs, back and any other area with tension. Also, you can add to a natural body was and use in a warm shower as you massage into skin.
Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana)
This oil is a natural sedative. It may be used to naturally relax the autonomic nervous system to soothe the body. Many oil users, use Cedarwood for grounding and calming both the mind and the body.
How to use it:
Aromatic: 3-4 drops in a diffuser. Inhale directly from the bottle.
Topical: 1-2 drops to facial moisturizer. 1-2 drops (dilute with a carrier oil) then apply to bottom of your feet.
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
Used to ease stress, reduce anxiety, and as a sedative. Lavender has been known to slow down the nervous system and assist in serotonin release. It also decreases blood pressure.
How to use it:
Aromatic: 2-3 drops before bed (Can add Cedarwood or Bergamot etc for more calming); apply 1-2 to bedclothes/bedding before bed.
Topical: 2-3 drops with a carrier oil and massage onto bottom of your feet &/or chest.
Internal use: 1 drop to 2/3 cups of organic dark chocolate; put on wax paper or in a mold and harden in fridge. Eat at part of nighttime restful ritual.
